The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) provides high-quality academic assistance for students at Mills College. CAE is comprised of three departments: Peer tutoring, directed by Helen Walter, assistant professor of biology, The center is located in the Aurelia Henry Reinhardt (AHR) Hall, B wing. Being close to the heart of campus allows us to serve those students who may have only a short time between lectures. Peer tutoring and SSD testing currently occupy 12 rooms and the Writing Center has three rooms—an inviting space where students feel relaxed and able to interact with the peer tutors. Each room has a whiteboard to facilitate the learning process. Currently one of our rooms is dedicated as a break room, with a sofa, kettle, microwave, and drinks provided. During reading days the center is open for study and students may occupy any of the study rooms alone or in small groups. During finals students may continue to use the downstairs lounge area and break room. |
