H1N1 (Swine Flu)—What Students Need to Know
Responding to Flu-Like Symptoms
If a medical professional recommends that you isolate for flu-like symptoms:
- Tell your RA.
- Return to your family home in a private vehicle if possible.
- Tell your roommate if you have one.
- Visitors to students in isolation will not be permitted.
- If isolating on campus your RD will help you move to an isolating room and will arrange for sick trays to be provided by dining.
- Please wear a mask (provided to you by your RA) when in common spaces such as a bathroom or when interacting with others.
- Contact your professors to let them know you will be missing classes during your isolation period or contact Kennedy Golden in the Division of Student Life for a letter of consideration.
Isolation periods last four to seven days, you can return to your room once you have not had a fever for 24 hours, without taking fever reducing medications.
To request meal delivery Once you’ve notified your RA they will contact the RD who will get your ID number and find out from you if you have any dietary restrictions. They will then contact campus dining to arrange for sick trays to be delivered to your room. DPS will pick up your meals from Founders and deliver them to your RD who will bring them to your room.
DPS will deliver breakfast between 7:30-9:30, lunch between 11:30-12:30, dinner between 4:30-5:30, and brunch between 10:30-11:30 on Saturday and Sunday.
The pre-set menu is based on medical advice for foods best tolerated when you’re ill.
