Main Switchboard
The main information number for the college is 430.2255. You may call this number to get office phone numbers for faculty and staff and other general numbers on campus. All calls for students are handled in the following manner. We never give out any personal or home numbers to callers. For students in the residence halls, we will forward the caller to the receptionist in your residence hall. She should have a record of your instructions about whether you want calls transferred to your individual extension or a message taken. For off campus students, we will inform them that you don't live on campus. If it is an emergency, we will transfer them to the Dean of Students office, where they will take a message and try to contact you.
Mail and Packages - Incoming
Please have your correspondents address your mail as shown below.
Student Name Residence Hall Name and Room Number Mills College PO Box (for USPS mail and packages only) 5000 MacArthur Blvd. Oakland, CA 94613-1301
This will ensure the fastest delivery to you. Mail with no residence hall listed must be looked up in the mail room and will be delayed. Please notify us if you change rooms or move off campus so we can re-route your mail and call you when you have a package. If your mail is still addressed to your old residence hall, it will be further delayed because it will be routed to that old address, returned to the mailroom, looked up and rerouted to your new dorm. So please notify your correspondents when you change residence halls.
All packages come into the Sage Hall Mailroom. Overnight express and UPS packages are received here even when a residence hall name appears in the address. We call to notify you when your package arrives. Dorm phones must be activated in order to receive packages. No cell phone numbers are accepted. If you are expecting a package and haven't heard from us, please call 510.430.2255 to check if it's here. Packages not claimed after one month will be returned to sender.
Change of Address Notification: Temporary and Permanent
A change of address card is available from your receptionist or in the Mail Center in Sage Hall room 118. Please complete one of these in the following circumstances:
Temporary summer forwarding address: When you'll be returning in the fall, complete this form to have your mail forwarded to you over the summer. You will be notified by postcard of any packages received. We can hold them until you return, forward them if U.S. mail, or reship them if you're willing to pay the postage.
Permanent on campus: When you change rooms or residence halls, notify us so we can reroute your mail. Any mail addressed to your old hall will be delayed because it will be sorted to that hall, returned to us, and then rerouted to your new hall. Please notify your correspondents of your new address.
Permanent off campus: When you move off campus or leave the college we will forward your mail for three months to give you time to notify your correspondents of your new address. We then return your mail to sender so they know that you didn't receive it.
The mail center receives piles of catalogs and advertisements sent by companies using old mailing lists to students no longer here. We have prepared a card for you to sign that we send to a Clearinghouse to remove your name from these lists. You will save a lot of paper by removing your name from these lists. When you leave the college, please get one of these cards from your receptionist or from the Sage Hall Mail Center. We will be happy to apply the postage and send the cards to the Clearinghouse once you have completed them.

Copiers in Sage Hall available for ASMC Clubs
The Treasurer of ASMC (Associated Students of Mills College) must authorize your use of the copier by giving you the auditron number for your club. This number is entered into the copier and then all copies made are billed to your club each month. Keep this number confidential because each club is responsible for the costs of any copies made on their auditron number. Staff in the copy center are not authorized to give you a club's auditron number; the Treasurer of ASMC has requested that she control the distribution of these numbers. We are available to advise you on design and layout of your copy jobs, so please consult us if you have questions about your fliers, booklets, postcards, etc.
Mail Services for ASMC Clubs
The Treasurer of ASMC will be able to tell you if your club has a budget for sending out mail. If so, you can complete a postal form in Sage Hall with your club's account number and the mail will be posted here and the cost charged to your club account. Mail should be brought to Sage Hall by 2:00 pm to be posted that day. Please notify us if you're doing an extra large mailing (several boxes of mail).
Incoming Club mail will be sorted into the Division of Student Life box in Sage Hall.
