Safety Statistics

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, Mills College annually publishes a report containing statistics of specified crimes, arrests and disciplinary referrals. This report also includes statements of policy and procedure pertaining to campus security and sexual offenses. The Annual Safety, Security and Fire Report is available online in PDF format.

The Public Log is available for public inspection at our office in CPM 113, during the normal administrative business hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Clery Statistics are also available by visiting the Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) website.


MDPS - Daily Crime Log

The Department of Public Safety maintains a Daily Crime Log that records, by date of report, all crimes and other serious incidents occurring on campus, in non-campus buildings or properties, public property, or within department jurisdiction. The Daily Crime Log is available for public review in the Public Safety Administrative Office at CPM 113.

Crime Log reports include the nature, date, time, and general location of each crime reported, as well as the disposition of the complaint if known at the time of production. The Department of Public Safety reserves the right to exclude crime report information from the log given the sensitivity of said information and/or circumstances. Log includes Reported Crimes in the Last 60 Days.

The Federal Clery Act allows the college to withhold information from the Public Log in special circumstances, such as when:  

  • Disclosure is prohibited by law;  
  • Disclosure would compromise the confidentiality of the victim;  
  • Disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual;  
  • Disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection;  
  • Disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence

Crime Log Disposition Definitions

Cleared (Closed): Case has had all issues raised by and subsequent to the filing event resolved, and no further action is required

Closed (Administrative): Case is closed and turned over to the college judicial process.

Closed (Non-Administrative):Case was investigated and no further action is needed.

Closed (Criminal): Case is closed by arrest or the case has been turned over to law enforcement agency.

Closed (Inactive): Case has been investigated but there is not enough information for further action to be taken and no suspects or further follow up information is available.

Open Pending:Case is open and pending further follow up or investigation.

Unfounded: No perceivable evidence of, or witness(es) to reported incident
