The Audio-Visual Technical Services (AVTS) team is responsible for installing and maintaining classroom presentation systems; circulating audio-visual equipment to faculty, students, and staff; providing technical support for college events; overseeing the operations of Lisser Theater and Prieto Lab; and providing audio and video transfer and duplication services.
Many of the classrooms at Mills College are equipped with audio-visual technology, such as: video/data projectors; DVD, VHS, blu-ray players; transparency overhead projectors and document cameras. If you have additional technical needs for your classroom, or would like assistance or training, please contact us by telephone (x2211) or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students, staff, and faculty with a valid Mills ID are free to check out audio-visual equipment from the AVTS office located in Fine Arts Annex 113.
To checkout equipment, come to the AVTS office with your valid Mills ID and a list of equipment needed. If you are not sure of the equipment you need, please be prepared to describe the nature of your event/project so that we may be better able to help you assess your AV needs.
Please come to the AVTS office with enough time to properly check out and go over any equipment with which you may be unfamiliar. Our office can get busy and you may have to wait in line.
You may reserve equipment for pick-up on a future date. To make a reservation send an email to email@example.com with the following information:
You may request technical assistance for your event by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. This service is for official Mills College events and business only. Any persons/groups not directly affiliated with Mills College should contact College Events.
We require two weeks advance notice for any non-Mills technical assistance requests. For any Mills technical assistance requests, we require one week advance notice or three days for a small service. If we are not provided with the appropriate notice, we may not be able to accommodate your request due to already scheduled events, equipment not available, staff already having been assigned, etc..
The AVTS office is equipped to provide duplication/media transfer services to Mills College students, staff, and faculty. This service is for duplication and transfer only. We do not provide authoring or editing services. Media types for which we are currently equipped are:
We provide blank media for a service charge. For prices please contact the AVTS office. Otherwise, customers may bring in their own blank media and there is no charge for the duplication/transfer. This service is for the Mills College community only.
Classes held in Fine Arts Annex 106 are able to be recorded (audio only) by an automated podcasting system. The recordings can then be placed on iTunes U, or burned to a CD. To podcast a class, first reserve the room, then contact Anne Allison with the class date, time, and duration. For information about putting recordings on iTunes U, contact Kiem Sie.
