Anne Allison: AV/Media Services Specialist

Patrice Scanlon: Technical Director, Intermedia Arts Program

Classroom Technology

Many of the classrooms at Mills College are equipped with audio-visual technology, such as: video/data projectors; DVD, VHS, blu-ray players; transparency overhead projectors and document cameras. If you have additional technical needs for your classroom, or would like assistance or training, please contact us by telephone (x2211) or email at av-requests@mills.edu.

Equipment Circulation

Students, staff, and faculty with a valid Mills ID are free to check out audio-visual equipment from the AVTS office located in Fine Arts Annex 113.

Checkout Procedure

To checkout equipment, come to the AVTS office with your valid Mills ID and a list of equipment needed. If you are not sure of the equipment you need, please be prepared to describe the nature of your event/project so that we may be better able to help you assess your AV needs.

Please come to the AVTS office with enough time to properly check out and go over any equipment with which you may be unfamiliar. Our office can get busy and you may have to wait in line.

You may reserve equipment for pick-up on a future date. To make a reservation send an email to av-requests@mills.edu with the following information:

  • Your name and valid banner ID number
  • A description of the location, dates, and nature of your event/project
  • List of equipment you are requesting
  • The dates and time you wish to pick up and return the equipment (e.g., pick up Monday 14th, 10:00 am and return Thursday 17th, 2:00 pm)
  • Any request for technical assistance
  • Please note: Checking out AVTS equipment is a shared privilege. It is imperative that all dates and times for reservations, checkouts, and returns be respected and adhered to. If you do not return equipment by the properly scheduled time, you will impede your peers' and colleagues' ability to use the same equipment and in extreme cases may forfeit your check out privileges. Likewise, if you do not pick up your reserved equipment on time, you run the risk of your reservation being canceled and the equipment being checked out to someone else. The best way to avoid an unfortunate situation is keep the AVTS staff informed of any changes in scheduled pickup/return dates and times.
