5. Connect to MyFiles for Personal File Storage

MyFiles is where you will save any files you create when using a student lab computer. MyFiles is a safe and reliable place to save files. This storage space is reserved just for you, and provides easy access to your files from any Mills College computer. For instructions on how to connect from your personal computer, please see the Off-Campus connect to myFiles page.

• On-campus Mills College PC:

1. Log into the computer with your new Mills username and password.
2. Double-click the My Computer icon. You will see your Mills username on: 'MyFiles (myfiles)' (H:).
3. Double-click your Mills username on 'MyFiles (myfiles)' (H:) to access your storage space. Any documents you create can be saved directly to this location or files can be copied from your hard drive by using drag and drop.

• On-campus Mills College Mac:

1. Log in to the computer with your new Mills username and password.
2. From the 'Go' menu, select 'Computer.' You will see 'myfiles.mills.edu' listed in the left pane under 'SHARED.' Click on 'myfiles.mills.edu' and you will see a folder with your Mills username. Double-click on the icon with your username to access your MyFiles storage space. 

Please note that when creating files it is possible to save them to the local desktop. All files saved onto the local desktop in the student labs will be erased at least once a week. This can happen at any time. We recommend that all files be saved to either MyFiles or a personal storage device.
