- All computers connecting to the Mills Network must have virus protection software installed. If you do not have virus protection software you may download and install free virus protection software here.
- Record your current settings if you plan to reconnect to a previous network.
- If these instructions don't work for you, you may have a personal firewall enabled which is blocking your connection to our network. Please disable your firewall software and try again.
1. Connect your computer to the Mills Network
- Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to the port marked D1 on the wall plate in your room.
2. Allow Mills to open a pop-up window
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Go to the 'Tools' menu and select 'Pop-up Blocker' and then 'Pop-up Blocker Settings.'
- In the 'Address of website to allow:' field, enter:
*.mills.edu
(* is the asterisk symbol above the 8 on your keyboard.)
- Click 'Add.'
- Click 'Close.'
3. Log in via Bluesocket for access to the Internet and Mills Network
- Open Internet Explorer.
- At the Bluesocket interface, enter your Mills username and password and click 'Log In.'
- Once you are logged in, keep the small Bluesocket browser window active, as you will need it to log out.
4. IMPORTANT - When finished with network access, log out via the Bluesocket window
- In the small Bluesocket window, click 'Click to Logout.'
Note: If there is no Bluesocket log out window, please be sure you have added *.mills.edu to your pop-up blocker exception list (see step 2).
IF YOU FORGET YOUR PASSWORD
There is no way to retrieve your old password. The only way to gain access to the network is to reset your password. Follow the password reset instructions detailed on the Password Setting or Resetting page.
