- All computers connecting to the Mills Network must have virus protection software installed. If you do not have virus protection software you may download and install free McAfee virus protection software here.
- A wireless network card must be installed before you begin this process.
- Your wireless network card may also need to be turned on.
- Log in to your computer with administrative privileges.
- Record your current settings if you plan to reconnect to a previous network.
- If these instructions don't work for you, you may have a personal firewall enabled which is blocking your connection to our network. Please disable your firewall software and try again.
1. 'My Network Places' Properties
- Click 'My Computer' in the Start Menu.
- In the window that opens, right-click 'My Network Places' in the lefthand column and select 'Properties' from the pop-up menu.
2. Network Connections Window
- Under the 'LAN or High Speed Internet' area right-click on 'Wireless Network Connections.'
- Choose 'View Available Wireless Networks' from the pop-up menu.
- Click on 'Mills-Wireless' under 'Available wireless networks.'
- Check the box that says 'Allow me to connect to the selected wireless network even though it is not secure.'
- Then click 'Connect.'
- After you are connected, close the 'Wireless Network Connection' window and return to the 'Network Connections' window.
- Right-click on 'Wireless Network Connections.'
- Choose 'Properties' from the pop-up menu.
3. Wireless Network Connections Window
- Under 'This connection uses the following items:' select 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).'
- Click on the 'Properties' button.
4. Internet Protocol Properties Window
- Record any old settings displayed on this page. This may include IP address, Subnet mask, Default gateway, DNS server - Preferred and Alternate information. You will need to refer to this should you want to reconnect to a previous network.
- Click on 'Obtain an IP address automatically.'
- Click on 'Obtain DNS server address automatically.'
- Click 'Ok.'
- You may close all open windows.
5. Log in via Bluesocket - required for any access to the Internet or Mills network.
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Use your Mills username and password to log in at the Bluesocket interface.
- Once you are logged in, keep the Bluesocket browser window active, as you will need it to log out.
6. IMPORTANT - When finished with network access, log out via the Bluesocket window.
- Note: If there is no Bluesocket icon active, close all Internet Explorer windows and then reopen Internet Explorer. This should prompt a small Bluesocket window to come up displaying a Logout command.
IF YOU FORGET YOUR PASSWORD
There is no way to retrieve your old password. The only way to gain access to the network is to reset your password. Follow the password reset instructions detailed on the Password Setting or Resetting page.
