Program Descriptions

Experience Mills - September 13, 2015
Experience Mills September welcomes high school seniors and transfer students for a unique program tailored to help you get a head start on your college application. You will also  learn about our collaborative educational environment, interact with current Mills students, and engage with our dynamic admissions staff.

The goal of this open house is to empower you with tools you’ll need to prepare your college applications.

Programming includes:

    • Common Application Workshop
    • Financial Aid Presentation   
    • Student Panel
    • Campus Tours
    • Meeting your Admissions Counselor

Registration for this program will open in August.

Experience Mills - October 17, 2015
Experience Mills October is designed for high school juniors and seniors, and transfer students. This program features the opportunity to interact with our renowned faculty and , learn about the application process.

During your visit, you will meet current Mills students, learn about financial aid, tour the campus, and sample the curriculum.

Programing includes:  

    • Combination of Academic Presentations and Mock Lectures by Distinguished Faculty
    • Admissions Application and Financial Aid Presentations
    • Campus Tours
    • Student Panel
    • Meeting your Admissions Counselor

Registration for this program will open in August.

Experience Mills - November 11, 2015
Experience Mills November is designed for high school seniors and transfer students. During your visit, you will  meet current Mills students, learn about financial aid, tour the campus, and sample the curriculum.

As part of your visit in November, you will have the option to set up a twenty minute interview with an Admissions Counselor. Interviews will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited.

    • Admissions Application and Financial Aid Presentation
    • Admissions Interview with Admissions Counselors

Experience Mills - January 29, 2016
This event welcomes all interested transfer students to campus. Our January program allows you to explore the unique and exceptional college environment Mills has to offer. You will learn about admission, financial aid, and have an opportunity to schedule a transfer credit e. In addition, you will have the opportunity to meet Mills students and ask them about their transfer experiences.

Programing includes:

    • Admissions Application and Financial Aid Presentations
    • Campus Tour
    • Transfer of Credit Evaluations
    • Common Application Computer Lab Session

Advising Day for Admitted Spring 2015 Transfer Students
This event welcomes all admitted transfer students to campus on Friday, December 5th. Programming for this event includes campus tours, individual transfer of credit evaluations and financial aid appointments. Students will have an opportunity to attend an academic advising session with a faculty member. Students who have submitted their enrollment deposit will be able to register for their spring semester classes. The program closes with a lunch reception. Please refer to the information in your acceptance packet for instructions on registering for Advising Day.

Overnight Program for High School Seniors
The Overnight Program is an exciting 2-day event for high school seniors who have recently been admitted or have applied to Mills College and are awaiting an admissions decision. The program will begin on Friday, February 19th at noon and conclude on Saturday, February 20th at 12:15 pm. If you have not yet applied to Mills and would like to attend the Overnight Program, please call 510.430.2135. Prospective high school seniors who are interested in attending this event must submit an admissions application by January 15, 2015. Please visit www.commonapp.org and apply today.

During the Overnight Program you will meet Mills students and experience our engaging and empowering academic environment. You will interact with campus leaders and faculty members. You can tour the campus and sample the curriculum by attending a sample class lecture. On Friday night, you can enjoy and participate in the annual Mills Got Talent Show and spend the night in the residence halls hosted by a Mills student.

Also during the Overnight Program, the Music Department will host auditions for students who intend to pursue a major or minor in Music during their undergraduate career. Auditions will be held on Friday, February 6th. Students who audition will be considered for one of two scholarships available: the Barbara Hazelton Floyd Scholarship (up to $10,000) and the Carroll Donner Commemorative Scholarship (up to $8,000). Be Bold: Lead Your College Journey 
We invite you and your family to join us for our second annual Be Bold: Lead Your College Journey program. This is a special open house designed for high school sophomores and juniors to visit our campus and learn tips and techniques on navigating the college application process.

Programing includes:  

    • College Application Workshop
    • Personal Statement
    • Leadership Workshop
    • Financial Aid & Scholarships Workshop
    • Campus Tours

Registration for this program will open in January 2016.

Transfer Information Sessions
Fridays, August 7 - October 30, 2015
Join us for a Transfer Information Session and learn why Mills might be a good transfer option for you! Students considering transfer for spring 2016 are especially encouraged to attend one of these events as they prepare for the November 1 admission application deadline. Get transfer-specific information about admission, transfer of credit and financial aid, then explore campus on a student-led tour.

Transfers Experience Mills
Mills is great transfer option! To find out why, we invite you to join us at Transfers Experience Mills. During this event, you will learn about the application process, tour the campus, and learn about the value of at Mills education. Optional afternoon activities allow you to sample the curriculum by attending a class, meet individually with an Admission Counselor for a Transfer of Credit Evaluation (unofficial transcripts required), or get started on your application at the Common Application Open Lab.

On the Spot Admission Program for Transfer Students
Submit your Common Application online by March 24th and turn in your letter of recommendation and transcripts from all colleges attended at this event. While you attend a campus tour and presentation on academics at Mills College, Admission Counselors will read your application. The event will conclude with a reception with current students of Mills College. During the reception, Counselors will meet with individual students to share their admission decisions with them.

Define Your Future: Accelerated Admission Program
Submit a complete application by June 18th and you will receive an admission decision at this event. Admitted students will also receive their financial aid award. In order to participate in this event, you must submit your Common Application and all remaining application credentials online by June 18th. Unofficial transcripts and test scores will be accepted for this event, and can be emailed to admission@mills.edu. We look forward to seeing you on June 26th!
