Beyond the Classroom

Learning isn’t limited to the classroom at Mills. Take a look at some of the ways you can gain experience with environmental organizing and research, both on and off campus.

Events & Activities  
  • Internships—Lead campus environmental initiatives at the Sustainability Center or the Community Farm.
  • Research—Work with a Mills professor to conduct environmental research at sites in the Bay Area.
  • Earth CORPS—Join this student club to organize and participate in Earth Week events, sustainability conferences, campaigns, field trips, and more.
  • Creek Care Volunteer Days—Learn about and help restore the native habitat along the creek that winds through campus.
  • Green for Green Fund—Submit a proposal for a new campus sustainability project.
  • Solar Spring Break—Learn about solar power and gain experience with solar installation for academic credit.

Senior Research Project

The environmental studies major culminates in a senior project. For many students, this project takes the form of a study for a local environmental organization or public agency. Some recent examples of senior projects include:
