NOTE: The degree requirements listed below are applicable to all students entering during academic year 2016-2017. Students who entered during a previous academic year should view the degree requirements in their entering year catalog in the catalog archives. Students who wish to switch to the 2016-17 major and minor requirements should submit a new Declaration of Major or Declaration of Minor form to the M Center.
Art History Major
(a minimum of 40 semester course credits)
And select two seminars from the following:
Sixteen upper-division semester course credits; at least one course must be taken in each of the three following areas:
Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque Art
European and American Modern and Contemporary Art
Chinese, Japanese, and Indian Art
Additional Upper Division Electives
Majors must take at least 20 credits in art history courses at Mills.
After completing 40 required credits, art history majors may take additional courses in studio art that count toward the 17 electives outside her major field.
Art History Minor
(a minimum of 22 semester course credits)
Courses must be chosen in consultation with an Art History advisor; 2 must be lower-division and 2 must be upper-division art history courses. Fourteen of the 22 credits must be taken at Mills.
