Dance: Additional Funding Opportunities

The Dance Program is committed to making graduate study at Mills as affordable and accessible as possible. The following program-specific sources of financial aid are available in addition to those outlined on our financial aid for graduate students page.

Merit Scholarships

The Dance Program is proud to award merit scholarships to individual students based on demonstrated skill and academic performance. In the additional questions section of the Mills graduate application, indicate that you plan to apply for financial aid. Then submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1 to receive priority consideration for these scholarships.

If you are DACA-eligible or otherwise unable to submit a FAFSA online, contact the Office of Graduate Admissions to learn about alternate documentation. You can reach us at 510.430.3309 or

Graduate & Teaching Assistantships

A graduate or teaching assistantship in dance can partially offset your annual tuition. If you complete your admission application and submit your FAFSA to be considered for merit scholarships, then you will be considered for an assistantship automatically during the admission process.

AmeriCorps Matching Grant

Mills supports AmeriCorps alumnae by providing up to $5,500 in matching funds to cover the costs of graduate study. To qualify for this grant, you must be accepted to Mills, attend full time, and submit a copy of your AmeriCorps voucher when you apply for financial aid.
