SF Bay Area & Oakland

As a Mills student, you’ll live and study in the most ethnically diverse city in the United States. You’ll also experience Oakland’s unique neighborhoods and get to explore all that our location on the Pacific Rim has to offer. Arts organizations, healthcare providers, tech giants, and nonprofits also call this area home—and we keep tabs on internships and job openings for students to explore.

Major media outlets—including the New York Times, Forbes, Popular Mechanics, Movoto, and Thrillist—have ranked Oakland among the best cities in America. Our students take full advantage of this, enjoying the First Friday gallery crawls, hiking through the East Bay hills at Redwood Regional Park, and sharing a snack from the best gourmet food trucks around.

And Mills students don’t limit themselves to Oakland. They explore all the Bay Area has to offer:

International cuisine—from authentic Asian to vegan Ethiopian to fall-off-the-bone barbecue

Outdoor adventures—including Lake Chabot, Ocean Beach, Muir Woods, and the Golden Gate Bridge

Pro sports games—with six local teams including the NBA champion Golden State Warriors and the San Francisco Giants

Science and learning centers—ranging from the California Academy of Sciences to Chabot Space & Science Center to the Tech Museum of Innovation

World-class museums—like the Computer History Museum, de Young Museum, and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

Get to know the neighborhood.
