All students are required to check in on Saturday, August 25, 2018 as we welcome all of our new graduate and undergraduate students to SO Mills: Student Orientation. In addition to the Orientation events, you'll get to know your cohort at individual welcome events hosted by your graduate program.

Check-In & Welcome Day

8:30 am–3:30 pm Assigned Student Check-in*
Upon your arrival to campus you will be greeted by Orientation staff outside of the GSB Building. You will receive your Student Orientation packets and will be directed to the appropriate check-in station. Student IDs, keys, parking permits, and AC Transit passes will be distributed.

4:00 pm–4:30 pm College Welcome*
College administrators will welcome you to the larger Mills community and give an overview of Orientation and what to expect during the next couple of days. Families of Mills students are encouraged to attend.

5:00 pm–7:00 pm Dinner & Resources Fair
Learn about different campus resources at the Resource Fair, and get answers to your questions. Dinner will be provided by Bon Appétit. Families of Mills students are encouraged to attend.

Graduate Orientation

9:00 am–10:50 am Campus-wide Graduate Orientation*
Hosted by the dean of students, this session will provide graduate students with key information essential to transitioning to the Mills community. The panel will include representatives from Student Access and Support Services, the F. W. Olin Library, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Counseling and Psychological Services, Career Connections & Community Engagement, and IT. Light breakfast will be served as part of this session.

Choose from one of the two sessions below.
Library Tour & Resource Demo 
Become familiar with F. W. Olin Library. This session will provide a brief tour of the library highlighting services and collections and including a demonstration on accessing electronic resources and reserves.

Getting Involved in Student Government 
Learn about how you can continue your involvement in student government and/or clubs and organizations on campus. You can also learn how to start a club.

Learn about free technology resources and accessing Mills networks. Computers are available to complete the self-guided computer orientation or to take placement tests.

Please join members of the Alumnae Association of Mills College and Alumnae Relations staff for dinner at Reinhardt Alumnae House. All new students are welcome. Dinner is also available in Founders Commons and the Tea Shop from 5:30 to 7:30 pm for those with meal plans or who wish to purchase their meal.
