We look forward to welcoming you to Mills! Below is the schedule for SO Mills: Student Orientation. Our Orientation events take place all around campus. To help you find your way, you'll receive a printed copy of the Mills campus map when you check in for Orientation, but you can also download a PDF of the campus map to your phone.

Pick up your residence keys, Mills ID, set up a post office mailbox, pick up a parking pass (if needed)

9:00 am–1:30 pm Campus Dining Options

Founders Commons offers “all you can eat” dining. The Tea Shop is a café and grill located in the Rothwell Center. For residential students, your validated student ID will serve as your meal ticket at Founders Commons. Students and guests without a meal plan can purchase food at either location.Founders Commons is open for lunch from 11:30 am–1:30 pmTea Shop is open from 7:00 am–10:00 pm

1:00 pm–4:00 pm Academic Advising

Drop in advising is available for students who are not yet registered for classes or who have not yet spoken by phone with their advisors. For all other questions students can drop by the LAB (Office of Learning, Advising, and Balance) and meet with the Director of Undergraduate Advising, Professor Don Crampton.

1:00 pm–5:00 pm Commuter Student Check-In & Essentials Pick-Up

Commuter students can drop in anytime between 1:00 pm–5:00 pm to check-in for orientation, pick-up your Mills ID, parking pass (if needed), AC transit pass, and connect with Financial Aid and Student Accounts (if needed).

3:30 pm–4:30 pm Title IX Conversation

Each individual at Mills College is an integral member of our campus community and it is important to know student rights and resources available. We will discuss Title IX, sexual misconduct, and the importance of consent. Representatives from the Division of Student Life will share a variety of resources pertaining to Title IX as well as overall student wellness.

5:00 pm–6:30 pm College Welcome Dinner

Receive an official welcome to Mills College from the President, Dean of Students, and Provost. You will also have the opportunity to get to know other new students and meet orientation leaders, faculty, and staff who will support you throughout your Mills experience. Dinner will be provided.

6:45 pm–7:15 pm Candle Lighting Ceremony

Be part of this special Mills tradition for new students. Learn “Fires of Wisdom,” the Mills College alma mater, and meet the Chaplain, who will offer readings and thoughts during this cherished program. This space is not religiously affiliated.
