Biography

Rebecca Akin's professional work and interests include practitioner and participatory inquiry, elementary science instruction with an inquiry emphasis, critical and science literacy, and the use of collaboration to scaffold inquiry and research as a part of everyday life. Prior to Mills, they were an elementary teacher in the Oakland Unified School District for 13 years. She is currently exploring youth citizen science in out of school contexts.
