Mills College Welcomes Distinguished Visiting Professor of Business
Oakland, CA–October 13, 2011 As women now make up half of the US workforce and hold more than 50 percent of managerial and professional jobs, how can they negotiate their way to leadership success? Mills College is pleased to welcome Deborah M. Kolb, an international expert on gender issues in negotiation and women’s leadership, as the distinguished visiting professor at the Lorry I. Lokey Graduate School of Business.
The author of several books that offer practical information to help women navigate the unique opportunities and challenges they face as they assume leadership roles, Kolb will begin her semester at Mills with a lecture on negotiations for career success. Additionally, she will offer workshops for students and alumni, teach a negotiations course in the MBA program, and be a guest lecturer in other MBA courses.
Kolb is the emerita Deloitte Ellen Gabriel professor for women and leadership and a distinguished research fellow at the Center for Gender in Organizations at the Simmons School of Management in Boston. She is the author of Everyday Negotiation: Navigating the Hidden Agendas of Bargaining and Her Place at the Table: A Women’s Guide to Negotiating the Five Challenges of Leadership Success, in addition tomore than 100 articles on the subjects of gender, negotiation, conflict in organizations, and mediation.
