Mills College Government Professor Weighs in on Middle Eastern Political Developments on KQED’s Forum
Oakland, CA–November 30, 2011 Mills College Professor of Government Fred Lawson, an authority on politics in the Middle East, shared his expertise about the turmoil in Syria and ongoing events throughout the region with host Michael Krasny on KQED Radio’s popular Forum program Tuesday.
Lawson joined other experts in an hour-long discussion of the latest developments from the Middle East and Asia. The panelists explored, among other issues, the parliamentary elections getting underway in Egypt and a just-released United Nations report that says Syrian security forces have committed crimes against humanity in response to anti-government protests that began in March.
Lawson is the author of the books Constructing International Relations in the Arab World and Why Syria Goes to War: Thirty Years of Confrontation and editor of Demystifying Syria. He has written numerous articles about foreign policy and international relations in Syria and the Middle East.
