Elizabeth L. Hillman, president of Mills College, has recently been appointed to serve on the NCAA Division III Chancellors and Presidents Advisory Group, as well as being named to the board of directors of the Women’s College Coalition (WCC). Mills College Cyclones participate in NCAA Division III, and the College is a long-standing member of the WCC.
Hillman will represent the American Collegiate Athletic Association to the NCAA Division III advisory group through 2020. "I'm excited about the chance to learn more and contribute to creating opportunities for growth to student-athletes across Division III," said Hillman.
The American Collegiate Athletic Association is a NCAA Division III conference that began play in the fall of 2017.
As a member of the board of the WCC, President Hillman will help the organization further its mission to transform the world through the education and success of women and girls. The WCC serves member colleges and universities in the United States and Canada by conducting collaborative research; introducing women and their families to women’s colleges through admissions advocacy programs; and bringing together women’s college leaders to collaborate and to explore the issues in higher education today.
Hillman, who brings a distinguished background working on key women and gender issues noted, “Today, the value of women’s colleges is more relevant than ever. Particularly in light of the #MeToo movement, women’s colleges provide a unique opportunity for young women to find their voices and speak up.”
