Oakland, CA—January 17, 2017
In the spirit of its commitment to social justice, Mills College will participate
in the Women’s March in Oakland on Saturday, January 21, as part of the larger movement
organized that day in cities across the country.
Conceived following a polarizing presidential election, the Women’s March represents a grassroots effort to champion human rights, civil liberties, and social justice for all. Its mission is to “stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our health, and our families—recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.”
Mills President Elizabeth L. Hillman will join students, alumnae, faculty, staff, and other constituents of the Mills community to show strength and unity by marching together and carrying Mills banners and signage. Families and friends are welcome to join the group.
