The Mills College MFA in Translation program is hosting its first Translation Festival at three Oakland venues in June to highlight new trends in translation.
Program directors Professor Carlota Caulfield and Distinguished Visiting Writer Achy Obejas are hosting the events. The festival includes a conversation with Caulfield and Translator Dick Cluster on trends in translation at the Octopus Literary Salon on Friday, June 17, 2101 Webster Street at 5:00 pm., a Linguistic Showcase with Obejas and other translators reading from recently published works at Laurel Bookstore, 1423 Broadway on Saturday, June 18 at 6:00 pm, and a poetry reading called Both Sides Now: A Bilingual Reading at E.M. Wolfman General Interest Small Bookstore, 410 13th Street on Wednesday, June 29 at 7:00 pm.
The Mills College MFA in Translation program spans five semesters, offers a flexible academic schedule, practical experience in translation, and a strong foundation on translational theories and trends.
