As part of its spring concert series, Mills College presents a lecture and a concert featuring the work of Ashley Fure, Jean Macduff Vaux Composer-in-Residence.

A composer of acoustic and electroacoustic concert music as well as intermedia art, Fure’s work explores the kinetic source of sound, bringing focus to the muscular act of music making and the vital behaviors of raw acoustic matter.

Classical music critic Joshua Kosman of the San Francisco Chronicle says, “a concert devoted to her music offers a rare chance to experience her work up close.”

Called “raw, elemental,” and “richly satisfying” by the New York Times, Fure’s work explores the kinetic source of sound, bringing focus to the muscular act of music making and the chaotic behaviors of raw acoustic matter.
