Mills Community Farm to Plant a Fruit Orchard—Get Your Shovels Ready and Your Groove On!

Oakland, CA– October 20, 2017

On Sunday, November 5, from 11:00 am-4:00 pm, the Mills Community Farm will plant 55 fruit trees in a free community event open to all. Hip Hop for Change and Growing Together will partner with the Mills community for an afternoon of music by CHLORA, Beefcake, and others; food; kids’ crafts and activities; tree-planting workshops; and community togetherness. 12:30 pm -1:00pm: First tree planting demonstration and conversation about the orchard under-story

1:00 pm-2:00 pm: Performer TBD, food served (Hip Hop for Change) 

 2:00 pm-3:00 pm: Performer TBD, planting of terrace 1

3:00 pm -4:00 pm: Mulch/compost moving, planting of terrace 2
