The Mills Dance Department—one of the oldest dance departments in the country—offers student dancers and choreographers the opportunity to participate in small studio shows through large-scale performances. Located in the heart of one of the largest dance communities in the country, Mills attracts dance innovators among both students and faculty. Everyone is encouraged to enjoy the vibrant and thought-provoking dance performances, which are free to Mills students and open to the general public.
Modeled after professional companies, the Mills Repertory Dance Company holds auditions for both undergraduate and graduate students alike. If you're a dance student, you can deepen your education in performance or choreography, while members of the Mills community and the general public enjoy watching emerging talent debut each fall.
Held in the dance practice studios, Studio One Performances enable students to showcase their choreography at the end of each semester in an intimate venue. Students and audience members connect and engage with the work in a highly personal and vibrant way.
As the culmination of the Mills graduate dance program each year, students perform their work in the MFA Thesis Performance. A highly anticipated annual event, this performance presents a unique opportunity for the public to see the next generation of groundbreaking artists showcase their choreographic work.
